Benjamin Hartford

A leap year occurs only once every four years.  On Wednesday, February 29th, plan to spend your additional leap evening with The Logistics Council for what will be an outstanding dinner program regarding the State of Transportation in 2012.  Benjamin Hartford, senior research analyst at RW Baird and perennial speaker for TLC, will present an in-depth look into the current state of the Transportation industry from the perspective of a Wall Street analyst.  Armed with this new insight, you’ll return to work more prepared to tackle the challenges and opportunities expected this calendar year.

Program Overview:

Reasons for economic optimism are building; what are expectations for growth for the next cycle?  In conjunction with an improved demand outlook, freight rates are poised to move higher for the next several years.  So, how are supply chain strategies evolving to respond to rising rates?

Topics to be addressed:

  • Where are we in the economic cycle?
  • Our outlook one year ago – what went right, what went wrong?
  • Bifurcation of freight trends:  industrial vs. retail; domestic vs. international
  • Pricing trends:  secular domestic freight pricing growth, led by truckload
  • Inventory levels are lean, but what does that mean?
  • How are transportation managers evolving supply chain strategies for the upcoming cycle?

Speaker:

Benjamin Hartford, CFA, Vice President, Robert W. Baird
