Facility Tour: Assembly and Distribution at Generac Power Systems

Please join The Logistics Council (TLC) for a presentation and facility tour on Tuesday, May 22nd.  We will visit the Generac-Whitewater facility, which supports the company’s assembly and distribution activities from procurement through manufacturing, customer order fulfillment, and transportation.  Generac was awarded the 2011 Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year award (Mega Category) by Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce.

Using the strategic approach presented in “Supply Chain Strategy” by noted logistics expert Dr. Edward Frazelle, Generac was able to develop an innovative fulfillment strategy to fit their world-class production facilities.  Come see how the two processes integrate for a unique experience.

Speakers and guides from Generac will take participants through the main assembly facility in Whitewater highlighting the company’s use of Lean Manufacturing, and then to the Finished Goods DC which features the first ever implementation of the “Fishbone Aisle Layout” developed by researchers from The University of Arkansas and Auburn University.  This implementation was reported in trade journals like DC Velocity, Distribution Group, Material Handling & Logistics, as well as a series of YouTube videos.
