The Logistics Council (TLC) of Milwaukee invites you to an operations tour and service work opportunity on Tuesday April 25th Feeding America Eastern America.  Our host will explain how Logistics processes help this vital non-profit meet its service mission.

Program Overview:

Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin is the state’s leading hunger relief organization, operating food banks in Milwaukee and the Fox Valley.  Together with over 600 members, Feeding America provides healthy and nutritious food to nearly 400,000 people annually.  Logistics are at the core of the organization where volunteers are truly the engine of the supply chain – sorting food donations and assisting with daily operations.  After a brief overview of the supply chain and processes, we will tour the facility and perform service hours by participating in a food sort.  Proceeds of the event will be split with Feeding America, and community service hours can be attributed to your organization.

Our Speaker/Host for this event:

Fred Heller, Director of Operations, Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin

Fred HellerFred Heller is the Director of Operations at Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, starting out in the newly created role in May of 2016 after a decade in corporate supply chain management.  Most recently, Fred was working as a business process analyst for our local utility, We Energies.  While working for CNH, the agricultural equipment manufacturer, and SC Johnson, a consumer packaged goods company, Fred learned the international and domestic freight management business along with billing and accounts payable functions.  Previous to his corporate experience, he spent a decade studying mathematics and computer science, receiving both a bachelor’s degree in mathematics applied in computer science and a master’s degree in mathematics from North Carolina State University.  Fred also had the opportunity to work for and learn from chefs at the Bartolotta Restaurant Group.  He also holds an American Society of Quality Six-Sigma Greenbelt and a Culinary Arts degree.  Fred’s community engagement has ranged from supporting local farmers in connecting to urban populations through the Urban Ecology Center, to tutoring math at Literacy Services of Wisconsin.
